1989 Lotte Hellinga-Querido
Born in Amsterdam in 1932, Lotte Hellinga-Querido, granddaughter of the eminent publisher Emmanuel Querido, is an important book scholar and incunabula researcher. She was particularly interested in the Dutch early printing. She is the first female Gutenberg award winner to attach special significance to her. With her research on Mainz Catholicon, she conducted groundbreaking paper studies, which was also the reason for the awarding of the Gutenberg Prize in 1989 to the City of Mainz and the International Gutenberg Society.
