Reductions on entries, lectures and events

The aim of the International Gutenberg Society is, above all, to promote students who are interested in the history and present of the art of printing. Instead of the annual fee of € 72.- students pay only half, but receive the same benefits, such as free admission to the Mainz Gutenberg Museum and invitations to all events of the society.

Members of the Gutenberg Society have free admission to the Gutenberg Museum and receive the annual Gutenberg Yearbook free of charge as well as invitations to the colloquia and lecture events of the society.

Conditions and contribution

Natural and legal persons may join. Each member supports the research of the printing and book industry and the Gutenberg Museum through his or her annual subscription.

Once a year in June an ordinary general meeting takes place in Mainz, to which all members are invited by the president eight weeks before the date.

Donations to the Gutenberg-Gesellschaft are tax-deductible, as the Society is recognized as serving the public good by promoting science. (Last exemption notice of the tax office Mainz-Mitte from 27.10.2017, tax number 26/674/08440)

The current membership fee is 72 euros per year and is reduced by half for students (36 euros).

Our city groups

Since the beginning of 2019, the Gutenberg Society has wanted to expand its activities and involve its internationally distributed members more closely by founding locally active city groups. The cooperation of like-minded people needs points of contact, which we want to make available. Above all, personal encounters provide the opportunity to expand and deepen knowledge about the areas of interest through contacts. To this end, we have found some committed members who organise and carry out events on their own premises in the name of the Gutenberg Society. Ernst Reif made the start in Munich and launched the first events in April 2019. He was followed by Mario Derra in Gernsheim (http://www.mario-derra.de/) and Hans Josef Altmann in Velbert-Langenberg (http://www.gutenbergbibeldruck.com/).

Further information about upcoming events can be found under News.
