On Saturday, 22 June 2019, the 118th Annual General Meeting of the International Gutenberg Society in Mainz e.V. will take place in the lecture hall of the Gutenberg Museum. This year, the Gutenberg Society's board of directors will also be elected. This will be followed by a public celebration to which we cordially invite not only all members, but also all interested parties. The new Gutenberg Yearbook 2019 will be presented here. In addition, the prize for this year's dust jacket will again be awarded. Every year, the Gutenberg Society organises a competition to design the dust jacket for the yearbook. The competition is aimed at students and young graduates of design subjects at European art and design colleges as well as at artistic departments at universities and colleges. Young book designers are thus offered a stage for relevant positions on contemporary book design. The recipients of the Gutenberg Yearbook thus receive a comprehensive impression of creative trends over the years. Before the Gutenberg Scholarships are awarded to the best graduates of the Johannes Gutenberg University who have a close or loose relationship to the city of Mainz, Prof. Dr. Stephan Füssel will give a lecture on "Media and Politics in the Early Modern Period - the Publication Strategy of Emperor Maximilian I" on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of Emperor Maximilian I.
