The student event series "Longdrinks" goes into a new round. On 20 May 2021, at 6 p.m., we will once again discuss an exciting topic in a casual discussion group.
Topic: "Diversity and inclusion in books - already reality or still utopia?"
Diversity and inclusion are becoming increasingly important in today's world. We live in a world where, for example, people with a migration background are no longer considered a social minority. Therefore, we would like to discuss with you whether this diversity of society is also reflected in books. Together we want to find out how this is reflected in current novels, texts and children's books. Do books reflect reality, do they show people with disabilities, for example, and if so, in a realistic way? How important is it for people and also the development of children to experience diversity and inclusion in books? And what actually happens when content violates social rules and paradigms or hurts people?
We would like to find an answer to all these current questions with you. You can look forward to an exciting evening full of discussions with a special focus on who is responsible in this area and what you can consider as a consumer and later also as a publisher in order to change the future for the better.
All people who are interested are cordially invited to come and talk to us about these topics in a relaxed atmosphere from the comfort of their own homes. Grab a glass of wine or other beverage of your choice and get cozy in front of the screen!
The event will be moderated by the interns Ida Genthner and Julia Müller, we look forward to seeing you.
