Topic: Alternative distribution – Digital self-publishing
Whether on Fanfiktion.de, Belletristika, Wattpad or Archive Of Our Own, nowhere is it easier to publish your own texts than on the Internet. Here, readers become authors and both enter into direct exchange with each other. Wattpad, in particular, has become one of the most popular social platforms for storytelling, connecting millions of readers and authors worldwide. It's no longer just hobby writers who use the platform; some have already made the leap from there to an established book publisher and into the general book trade, which is why the book industry is also becoming increasingly interested in these platforms.
Perhaps you are already part of these global platforms for readers and authors and have already used them in one form or another, or perhaps they are still completely new territory for you. In any case, few people are concerned with the things that happen in the background and of which the average user notices very little. We would therefore like to discuss with you how exactly such platforms work, who uses them, what advantages and disadvantages they have, and how much money you are willing to spend on them.
