The second event of our new city group in Munich under the leadership of our member Ernst Reif is a visit to the "Munich Bookmakers". At the beginning of December 2018, seven indie publishers opened a pop-up store in the middle of the Bavarian city. On the shelves, the publishers present their colourfully mixed programme to the readers.
Bettina Deininger (austernbank Verlag) publishes sophisticated French literature; Thomas Endl (edition tingeltangel) has a Neuschwanstein thriller as well as a picture book about gay bears in his programme; Thomas Peters (Morisken Verlag), on the other hand, has an "Asocial Guide for Germany". Thomas and Sophie Schillo (Schillo Verlag) offer a colourful mixture from poetry to cookbook; Susanna Rieder (Susanna Rieder Verlag) exclusively children's books. Franz Schiermeier (Franz Schiermeier Verlag) and Martin Arz (Hirschkäfer Verlag) specialise in maps and panoramas - and in Munich books. In a joint discussion with the publishers, we will find out how this came about and how it will continue.
After the interview, we invite you to end the evening together in a nearby restaurant.
