Topic: The beginnings of music printing
Speaker: PD Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Christoph Reske

The invention of letterpress printing by Johannes Gutenberg in the middle of the 15th century revolutionized the production of texts. But it took another ten years before pictures were also printed in books and the printing of sheet music even took another ten years. So the question is, what problems did printers have when printing sheet music? Which musical notes existed in the second half of the 15th century and which changes in the printing of musical notes can be traced back to the 16th century?
In this lecture we will receive answers to these and other questions about the exciting beginnings of music printing.
