After the winter break we will start in March with the first date of our popular lecture series in the evening, which will end with a small wine tasting. All old and new friends of the Gutenberg Society and of the popular Jour Fixe format are cordially invited to an exciting round of discussions in a spectacular Mainz cultural ambience - we will take care of your physical well-being.
Topic: Presentation of the children's book "Johannes Gutenberg und die verschwundenen Lettern"
Speakers: Gitta Edelmann and Regine Kölpin
The authors Gitta Edelmann and Regine Kölpin present their brand new children's book "Johannes Gutenberg und die verschwundenen Lettern". In the historical children's thriller, orphan Martin comes to Johannes Gutenberg's workshop as an apprentice. Here he works on a large work under absolute secrecy. Gutenberg wanted to reproduce books with a newly invented printing press, whereas they had previously been laboriously copied by hand. But then theft occurs in the workshop, putting the company at risk. When Martin comes under suspicion, he sets off in search of the true perpetrators. Can the neighboring girl Klara help him? Or is she in cahoots with the thieves?
In this book, together with Klara and Martin, you can find out exactly what Gutenberg's invention looked like and how printing works. Come to the realm of black art - the art of printing!
The book is the first publication of the Gutenberg Foundation.
Afterwards there will be a small wine tasting of a Mainzer winegrower.
Registration is requested at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone at 06131-226420.
The entrance is free, donations for the winegrower are requested.
