We are pleased to announce that, together with the artist and Mario Derra, the new city group leader of the International Gutenberg Society Mainz e.V. and his exhibition Neue Originalgraphiken für Georg Büchner in the Schöffer city of Gernsheim, we will be able to enter the second round.
Among other things, Mario Derra created the world's largest lithograph with a length of 11.24 m (Guinesswor-ldrecord) directly in the Solnhofen quarries and also set up the permanent lithographic exhibition for the Gutenberg Museum. In Gernsheim, he has operated the Altes E-Werk cultural monument and teaching museum, which is equipped with many historical printing presses, on a private initiative since 1995. Here he pursues his passion for prints and publishes etchings, woodcuts and lithographs in his studio, which often deal with the region, for example with the works of Georg Büchner, Friedrich Lehne and Peter Schöffer.
At the Altes E-Werk he will be showing six new prints and a bronze on August 4 and August 11, September 8, September 21 and September 22, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Büchner's comedy "Leonce and Lena". Also on display are the lithography workshop with over 100-year-old historical presses and an exhibition of French lithographs from 1830-48 on freedom of the press. Demonstrations of lithography techniques on the historical presses complete the programme.
In his workshop, Mario Derra also welcomes interested visitors outside the exhibition by appointment.
