The director of the Gutenberg Museum, Dr. Annette Ludwig, will give members of the Gutenberg Society and interested parties an exclusive insight into the new special exhibition ABC. Avantgarde - Bauhaus - Corporate Design developed by the Gutenberg Museum and sponsored by the Federal Cultural Foundation before the opening on September 5.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, the special exhibition documents the development of printmaking and typographic products of the Bauhaus, which is regarded as the most famous art school in the world. In a city and in a federal state that can hardly fall back on historical Bauhaus heritage, this special exhibition represents the official contribution of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate to the Bauhaus anniversary.
Based on the new workshop concept, the World Museum of Printing Art focuses on the printing workshop in Weimar, where famous artists such as Lyonel Feininger and Paul Klee worked. Using originals of artistic and design historical significance, the exhibition traces the development of the workshop for printing and advertising, which established itself in Dessau from 1925 onwards. Designers such as Herbert Bayer, Joost Schmidt and others created what wrote history as "Bauhaus typography". Numerous valuable loans and his own holdings illustrate the discourse on standardisation, standardisation and legibility.
