On Thursday, 2 May 2024, at 6 pm, the International Gutenberg Society in Mainz e.V., the Gutenberg Museum and the Gutenberg Foundation cordially invite you to the next evening of the new lecture format "Treffpunkt Gutenberg".
Felix Ganz, managing director of the International Gutenberg Society in 1920/1921, better known as a bustling Mainz businessman for oriental carpets and home furnishings, modernised the society after the First World War thanks to his innovative business methods. With generous donations and the acquisition of new members among his international business partners, he helped the Gutenberg Society get off to a sustainable start after 1918 - an aspect of the society's history that has hardly been mentioned to date. Thanks to unpublished sources from private and public archives, great-grandson Prof Adam Ganz (London) and art historian and provenance researcher Nathalie Neumann, M.A., will provide completely new insights into the life and work of this committed citizen of Mainz.
In a subsequent Q&A session, guests will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with the speakers. The evening is followed by a small get-together with a selection of wines provided by the City of Mainz.
