Printing like Gutenberg
After a two-year break, the Citadel Festival on Open Monument Day returns in its customary form on 11 September. This time, the nationwide event will be held under the motto "KulturSpur", with the Citadel as the largest area monument in Mainz as the highlight. Current developments in monument and nature conservation are thematised with new insights into historical building techniques. With a mixture of information, entertainment and culinary delights, a colourful programme is created for the whole family:
For example, there are over 20 guided tours, including through the Mainz Garrison Museum and the Roman Stage Theatre. Book lovers can browse through the books on offer at the book bazaar run by the LIONS Club Mainz. Relax at the open Old and Youngtimer meeting and get active at the boules tournament. And there will be no time for boredom: Children can take part in a rally with a raffle or do pottery, painting and handicrafts with the Mal-Werk, while various information stands await adults.
The International Gutenberg Society and the Gutenberg Foundation will also be present in front of the Kulturei. We will present ourselves and our work at an information stand and invite you to participate at a printing station.
And if you still haven't had enough, you can dance to live music or enjoy the wide range of culinary delights on offer.
