Longdrinks meets Jour Fixe

For our first physical get-together in a long time, we are combining our two popular event series "Longdrinks" and "Jour Fixe der Freunde Gutenbergs". We are bringing together a short lecture followed by a discussion moderated by our current interns, book studies students Lea Maibohm and Linda Thiele.

In a cosy ambience in Salon 3SEIN, we will take up a topic that we already talked about last year with a different focus: Sustainability in the book industry. At our Jour Fixe on the topic of "cycles in the book and media industry", Nadine Kümmel and Thorsten Noll presented the raw material cycles within the Cradle to Cradle concept. This year we are expanding this topic and want to talk about concrete ideas for sustainability in the book industry: How can packaging waste be avoided, transport be made more sustainable or the book be produced in an environmentally friendly way? These and many other questions are becoming more and more pressing these days, because climate change is preoccupying the world and its effects are already being clearly felt.

Food for thought is provided by our special guest Annika Nasel, who recently graduated with her bachelor thesis titled "Sustainability as a marketing strategy? - Analysis of the #WithoutFoil campaign" (Nachhaltigkeit als Marketingstrategie? - Analyse der Aktion #ohneFolie).In a short talk, she will give us an up-to-date introduction to the topic from the perspective of the book industry and present innovative ideas and approaches to solutions. The event "Longdrinks meets Jour Fixe" thus offers the opportunity for a constructive exchange about an increasingly important topic and can draw attention to ways to do good for the climate.
