Between Bookstagram and Book Stacks – Do We Really Need Reading Trackers?

Longdrinks – the Student Discussion Series

Reading-tracking apps have long become part of digital reading culture — somewhere between Bookstagram, Goodreads, reading challenges, and the resolution to finally read more again. But how useful is tracking books really?

Does it motivate us to read, encourage exchange, and lead to new recommendations? Or does it sometimes create pressure through unnecessary comparisons and the feeling of never reading “enough”?

These are the questions we would like to discuss together — openly, casually, and without any “book police”. In this month’s edition of our student discussion series “Longdrinks”, we will talk about personal reading habits, digital reading culture, and the ways apps and social media are changing how we read.

The event is aimed at students and everyone interested in spending a relaxed evening with conversations, drinks, and honest perspectives on reading.

When? 13 May 2026 | from 6 pm
Where? Zeitlos at Proviant Magazin, Schillerstraße 11A, Mainz

We are looking forward to an inspiring evening and many different perspectives between book stacks and screens.
